Good Friday is about the fact we have a King who’d rather die for his enemies than kill them. The way of the cross is sacrificial love. Jefferson Bethke, Christian author, spokesperson (via yohoyohoadisneylifeforme)

Holy Thursday My friend in the seminary sends daily prayers. I allowed myself to post during lent to share this beautiful prayer with you all…

Why did You wash their feet? I don’t understand, it makes no sense. Why did You do something so demeaning, so distasteful,
when You did not have to?
Why humble yourself & wash the feet of Your own disciples? You are the Messiah, it makes no sense for You, of all people, to do something that should be done by the least of all people, not by the greatest. It is not what society thinks a King would do. Unless… unless we have it all wrong & that, somehow this is a measure of what Messiah means. Not that it is defined in greatness,
but that somehow, in Your world, the first will be last & the greatest is the least servant of all. If we are to follow You, doesn’t it mean that we must follow Your example too? You did this to show us that we too should make ourselves humble, to the extent that we must wash the feet of the people whom we would rather ignore. Jesus, You defined what a Messiah truly is through Your actions, help me follow in Your steps.
~ Amen

Why are you striving these days?
Why are you trying to earn grace?
Why are you crying?
Let me lift up your face,
just don’t turn away.

Why are you looking for love?
Why are you still searching,
as if I’m not enough?
To where will you go child,
tell me where will you run?
To where will you run?

'Cause I'll be by your side wherever you fall,
in the dead of night whenever you call.
And please don’t fight these hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you.

I don’t listen to a lot of Christian music but Tenth Avenue North gets to me. (via meggygrace)
